I’m a huge fan of We Are Likewise, and as a Circuit Edition GR Corolla owner with the forged‑carbon roof, their new BYO forged‑carbon shifter core was an instant buy for me. As soon as I saw it, I ordered it — and I’m glad I did. The CF quality is top‑shelf and feels excellent in the hand. It matches the forged carbon on the CE perfectly.

I also picked up both Delrin cores, and they’re fantastic as well. Surprisingly, the 125 mm length has become my favorite overall. For other GRC owners, I highly recommend grabbing the RLX lockout system too. It looks clean, works flawlessly, and makes swapping knobs genuinely fun.

I’ll be upfront: I’m biased because I love their products, and this forged‑carbon core is an easy 5‑star item for me. But I do want to give other owners a heads‑up about the new Defcon base. Because the forged carbon is produced as a long tube and cut to length, the cut edge sits right at the concave section of the Defcon base. If you grip low, that sharp, unsanded CF edge can scratch your hand during shifts.

I’m lucky enough to have had both bases on-hand, and I recommend sticking with the original base if you’re pairing it with the forged‑carbon core. The CF itself is excellent — the geometry of the Defcon base is what creates the issue.

Overall, WAL continues to deliver killer quality and unique designs. Just be mindful of base selection if you’re going forged carbon, Kevlar or Walnut. (Defcon syncs up with the other cores, np.)

Had the Daytona pro on my old set up.
Got a coolerworx short shifter and I missed the chunky, heavy knurled goodness. Then BYO shifter came along and it fits so good with the adaptor to the coolerworx.
Feels great, looks great, love the fact you assemble all together yourself.

I ordered with an OE top with Ford Racing logo printed looks great and feels nice to change gears with. Quality product but the only slight downside is, as I'm in the UK, I had pay import duties

Absolutely amazing product, fits my hand perfect which allows for smoother gear changes. Took me a minute to realise how it fully assembled lol but i figured it out. I really like the funny card inside the box that made me laugh 😂🤣

I am absolutely in love with this

I've got one of each of the different core finishes, so here's a little primer in order of preference:

1. Aluminum: Super grippy texture, nice heft in the shorter style, but it can get a little too heavy on the longer style if you are fan of precision like me. Would only really recommend the long one if you got an aftermarket shifter or mods to tighten things up.
2. Delrin: Extremely high quality, practically insulated, you will never burn or freeze your hand gripping this one. As far as weight goes, easily the best for precision. Only downside is that even the nicest plastic feels, at the end of the day, like plastic. It's also the priciest, which is worth noting.
3. Foam: Very nice foam, feels plush and soft to the touch and it isn't too light either. Only real downside is it lacks the looks and presence of the other two materials. Worth considering if comfort and soft-touch surfaces are important to you.

If you like the looks then you can't really go wrong with any of them.
